SDN PUBLISHES 'MY SOUTH DAKOTA BOOK'
POSTED: MAY 26, 2006
Sioux Falls, SD (10-06-06) Forget the dry South Dakota history book your teacher made you use in fourth grade. SDN Communications is delivering a book bursting with color, interesting facts, and games about South Dakota.
My South Dakota Book: Hometown Snapshots simulates a photography road trip of 33 South Dakota towns and other landmarks. The project will supplement the fourth grade curriculum in South Dakota. SDN CommunicationsTM developed the book for its owner companies, the 27 independent telephone companies of South Dakota. Some of those companies used to give a reading book to elementary students as a gift from the local telephone company. Those companies asked SDN to develop something that would hold more value for not only the children but also parents. SDN Communications will be giving the My South Dakota Book: Hometown Snapshots to fourth graders so they can learn more about South Dakota communities. In fact, it will provide 1,500 copies to Sioux Falls school children.
"This is the kind of book children and parents get excited about and keep for a long time," says SDN Marketing Manager Vernon Brown. "When we give children or adults the book, they tell us they can't put it down."
The book also features many projects and games for the children, and soon there will be a web page enhancing the book's value.
"This is a way for our companies to show children how proud we should be of our state," Brown says. "The book displays the best South Dakota has to offer. From our rich history to big festivals, it covers the colorful character of this big state."
