Humane Society expanding and looking for more volunteers

The Humane Society is “extremely dependent” on volunteers, says Alma Sehovic, volunteer coordinator. Dozens of volunteers contribute an average of about 450 work hours per month, she says.

“We always could use more volunteers. It would be even better if they could show up every month and become regular volunteers,” Sehovic says.

At least three companies have promoted the development of an interactive toothbrush – an electric toothbrush that connects to a mobile device to record a user’s brushing habits and offer tips on oral hygiene.

I’ll be surprised if interactive toothbrushes catch on as anything more than a novelty among super geeks. Most people don’t need Internet reminders to brush their teeth.

Cisco projected last year that by 2014 the number mobile-connected devices would exceed the world’s population by 2014.

That’s a fascinating tidbit. It reflects the soaring use of mobile devices to communicate in business and everyday life.
