“Slow it down Gary,” says Bill Goehring, our still-photographer for the day. Gary slows his pace while he pulls us backward on a cart down the locker-ridden hallway of Estelline High School. Bill snaps the shots. I humbly hold the flash complete with umbrella. I think to myself, “They say it’s bad luck to open an umbrella indoors. Does this count?” Apparently not. We had a ton of good luck getting a great story.
We were on location in Estelline, SD, documenting the next installment of the “One Common Thread” campaign series for SDN Communications. It’s a campaign created to illustrate how SDN connects us all, oftentimes unknowingly, with miles and miles of fiber optic ‘thread.’ This “One Common Thread” connects every school in South Dakota—which allows the students in Estelline to take classes from their foreign language professors at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.
Dillon, Alaina, and Benjamin all said they appreciated the technology and the opportunity it afforded them, but it was clear to me that these tech-savvy students not only appreciated it, but also expected it. It was an expectation that could not have been met without the network provided by SDN Communications and forward-thinking leaders of Estelline High School like Joey Struwe, Network Administrator.
We had a great day capturing yet another story about how we are connected by SDN Communication’s “One Common Thread”. Click here to see the finished commercial.
