Carrier Relations Specialist

SDN is looking for a Carrier Relations Specialist to be Responsible for provisioning of off-net circuits and negotiations with providers and Member Companies to deliver internal or SDN customer circuits into off-net markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provisioning of channel assignments on off-net TDM and Ethernet circuit handoffs to 3rd party carriers.
  • Place ASR orders with SDN Member Companies & Other 3rd party carriers for off-net service deliveries.
  • Collect & disseminate all support details to companies on orders (LOAs, CFAs, etc.).
  • Utilize Provisioning/Ordering software to place orders with carriers, and document channel assignments in SDN circuit inventory systems.
  • Update Design Layout Records (DLRs) to document circuit assignments utilizing SDN circuit inventory software platforms.
  • Coordinate SDN Member Company or 3rd party carrier order delivery timelines for new or change circuit orders, and update other SDN departments on any changes to actual delivery dates accordingly.
  • Process all inventory and pricing documents related to off-net circuit orders and maintain historical inventory of order information pertaining to off-net orders.
  • Process network regroom requests to and from LECs and 3rd party carriers for various TDM and Ethernet services.
  • Make service calls to SDN Member Companies and other 3rd party carriers to provide status information on open orders or troubleshoot problems with delivery timelines.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in a networking or telecommunications field; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio and Word software.
  • Must be able to react well under pressure, follow through on commitments, and complete work in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge in telecommunications operations support on PBX, VoIP, DACs, carrier level operations, call processing, data, fiber optic, and transmissions network management;
  • Proficient at router management and network device configuration;
  • Troubleshoot telecommunication circuits, including, but not limited to T1, DS3, T-3, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and OC-192 circuits using various testing equipment and software;
  • Identify cabling specifications and various terminations. Including but not limited to copper and fiber optic cabling;
  • Install and test T1, T3, Ethernet, and MPLS circuits for Dedicated Access, Frame Relay, and ATM;
  • Knowledge of migration of carrier voice services from TDM to SIP;
  • Knowledge of wide area network routing protocols;
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux internet servers and services;
  • Ability to write custom scripts for file transfers, alerting of potential outages, and general network management;
  • Ability and desire to share knowledge / experiences within a team environment;
  • Ability and knowledge of escalating internal and external issues ensuring timely resolution and notifications;
  • Coordinating emergency and routine maintenance with customers and vendors;
  • Researching and identify potential security vulnerabilities on network devices.  Including but not limited to firewalls, IDS/IPS, advance malware appliances;
  • Identifies and replaces malfunctioning or inoperative equipment, such as circuit cards or processing units, and performs repairs and preventative maintenance;
  • Maintain and create procedure manuals and updating policies when applicable.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 or 2 year degree from a college or tech school; or three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) certification helpful.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and Internet software.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts and weekends.  Required to be on-call and report to work within 30 minutes. 

 

Workflow Coordinator

SDN is looking for a Workflow Coordinator to be primarily responsible for the coordination of tasks, workflow dependencies, and timelines with respect to service orders and projects within the SDN order tracking systems.  The workflow coordination staff maintains a working knowledge of job duties associated to the tasks completed in each department, and coordinates the efforts of SDN staff to meet or exceed deadlines on service orders or internal projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of various departmental duties and responsibilities with respect to service orders and projects, and work to continually improve the flow of information between departments to deliver services in a timely manner.
  • Maintain workflow designs inside SDN order management software platforms and work to continually improve service delivery times through management of timelines and dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain process milestones and reports based on service delivery metrics to assist departments in managing day to day workload, internal timelines, and customer demands.
  • Work with the various SDN departments to define and document task definitions, jeopardy status codes, and order supplement procedures, and keep other departments up to date on changes within the overall workflow design.
  • Provide updates to the SDN sales organization regarding current order delivery timelines, status changes, and potentially late service deliveries.
  • Work with staff to update and manage order tasks appropriately based on current workflow procedures including application of task jeopardy codes, maintaining jeopardy follow-up dates, and working tasks with appropriate priorities.
  • Assist pre-order workflow coordination to generate appropriate final order due dates by coordinating information and requirements of the SDN Network Engineering, Outside Plant, Carrier Relations and Network Operations departments.
  • Work with department managers and supervisors to develop departmental dashboards to view important order timeline related information, and to help identify chronic procedural or task dependency related issues.
  • Manage complex multi-order relationships and task dependencies, and deal with frequent changes and updates to standard task dependencies to deal with potential changes to order requirements or customer demands.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred; four years of related experience in a telecommunications environment, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio and Word software;  Experience in Oracle Communications Metasolv Solution or other telecom order management software preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to plainly explain advanced technical information to coworkers and management.
